Biography

 

Rob trained with the Bridge Theatre Training Company after studying Drama at the University of Hull. During his training he fortunate to tour Japan with the Chikamatsu project and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival twice. Some of his credits while training included; Mike (Ruffian on the Stair) Larry (Closer) Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream) Edward (Find Me) and Shamilov (Summerfolk)

 

He made his London stage debut at Leballe (A Stay of Execution) before joining touring pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk as Squire Bogey for M and M Productions.
 

Rob has toured extensively with Rain or Shine Theatre Company playing a variety of roles in their fast-paced outdoor summer productions including; Dromio of Ephesus (The Comedy of Errors) Antonio, Lancelot Gobbo and the Prince of Arragon (Merchant of Venice) Blind Pew, Israel Hands and Ben Gunn  (Treasure Island) Trinculo (The Tempest), Puck (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Malvolio (Twelfth Night) Don John and Dogberry (Much Ado About Nothing) Jaques and Charles the wrestler (As You Like It), and Young Charles Marlow (She Stoops to Conquer). He has also been fortunate to appear for the company during their indoor winter seasons as Joe Gargery and Compeyson (Great Expectations), Mr Harker and Renfield (Dracula; A Pain in the Neck), Mr Badger (The Wind in the Willows), and in one of his dream roles as Sherlock Holmes (The Hound of the Baskervilles)

 

Rob is very proud to have appeared in two world premiere productions for the Malvernbard company both written by Malvern Theatre's writer-in-residence Nick Wilkes. In 'Adrian's Wall' Rob played the part of Bryan Smallbone, a down on his luck builder from Barnsley who joins his old school friends to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall, whilst in 'To Build A Wooden O' he had the honour of portraying William Shakespeare during the turbulent period during the construction of the Globe Theatre in 1599 at The Other Place, RSC - Stratford Upon Avon.


Rob recently returned from touring Spain with La Tourne Teatro performing to thousands of school children and teenagers in their musical adaptions of 'Tarzan', 'Beetlejuice', 'The Happy Prince','The 39'ish Steps' playing various roles including Tarzan's dastardly villain, Clayton.  All productions were aimed to help Spanish children improve their English in an entertaining way. He previously appeared in La Tourne's other productions of 'Belle and the Beast', 'Scissorhands', 'Neverland' and 'Frankenstein' playing Captain Hook and Frank the Monster respectively. While in Spain, Rob also appeared and Co-choreographed a short film called 'The Bag of Life' (2016) a post-apocalyptic survival fight film.

 

Since his training, Rob has continued to study Stage Combat with the Academy of Performance Combat and The Action Emporium and currently holds 11 Advance qualifications in varying weapons.

 

When he is not on stage, Rob has returned to building theatre sets as he enjoys the process and working with his hands (and power tools!)
